What is Somatic Therapy?

Somatic stands for Body. We work by taking a Mind-Body approach to healing and re-stabilising our bodies and nervous systems. Through our studies and research with ourselves and our clients we have understood that Mind is in constant conversation with Body. We integrate both psycho principles alongside Somatics to create an in depth therapy that facilitates the healing back to yourself, before trauma clouded our experience and understanding of life.

We work by taking a mind-body approach because we believe real healing comes in a symbiotic relationship and conversation between the two.

Somatics works with the understanding that emotional repression is the driver of our suffering. Therefore all our approaches target the emotional body, to release old unprocessed trauma, when once upon a time it was not safe to feel and express.

How does Somatic Inquiry work?

In general terms, the practitioner would guide you into an inquiry with your thoughts, meaning every single thought that presented itself would be greeted, accepted and allowed. By doing this, walls inside our subconscious feel safe to come down and the inquiry becomes a way for us to delve into the deeper unconcious beliefs we hold about ourselves that, without us even realising, are the root and drivers for our self sabotaging tendencies.

As unconscious thoughts reveal themselves, often a strong charge behind these thoughts are held in the body. The goal with inquiry is to feel this charge so then naturally the power of the thought releases it’s grip and falls away. The reason thoughts feel true to us is usually because they hold a sticky charge within our body. This is the realm inquiry delves into.
