TRE® stands for Tension and Trauma Release Exercises. Brought into the world by Dr. David Bercelli. TRE® is a modality that takes the individual through 7 simple exercises that work to fatigue the muscles in the lower part of the body. By doing so we activate the human being’s innate neurogenic tremor mechanism, also known as shaking.
This form of shaking is an incredibly natural way of releasing stored traumas and stresses within the body. We can observe this exact mechanism in animals after they have experienced a stressor. Due to cultural conditioning human beings have forgotten how to let their bodies shake, but once we practice TRE®, our bodies naturally remember.
